If you can’t find what you’re looking for, these helplines may be useful even if that particular topic isn’t listed in the description. They can also be useful if you want to discuss more than one thing or if you’re not sure who to contact.

The organisations listed below are given in no order of preference; feel free to contact whichever service you would like or none at all. Please note that some of these services are advisory and are marked as such.

    Get Connected

    Get connected offers confidential help for young people under 25. They offer emotional support and information about appropriate further specialist help if necessary. Help may be on topics that include: Abuse and violence, bulling, discrimination, harassment, citizenship, cultural issues, mental health, gender and sexual identity, self-harm, addictions and legal issues.

    Childline Advisory

    Childline offers help and advice to children (up to 19 years old) about a wide range of issues that include physical, emotional and sexual abuse, family relationships, living in care, issues in school, college or university, (cyber) bullying, anxiety, panic attacks, self-harm, sexual identity, suicide, relationships, financial concerns, friendships, addictions, racism, eating disorders, and legal matters.

    Family Line Advisory

    The Family Line helpline provides help and emotional support to anyone experiencing family problems including parents, carers, children, teens, spouses, lone parents and grandparents. Any problem can be discussed with them. Topics include abuse, adult relationships, bereavement, children, depression, divorce, separation, addictions, isolation, mental health, raising children, teenagers and testing behaviour.

    Samaritans

    Samaritans offer confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress, despair or suicidal thoughts. The helpline is for any problem and callers do not have to be suicidal. Topics they can help with include relationship and family problems, bereavement, financial worries, job-related stress, loneliness and isolation, depression, university or study-related stress, painful and/or disabling physical illness and addictions.

    Mind Advisory

    MIND offers information, support and advice to anyone with a mental health problem on topics such as types of mental health problems, where to get help, medication and alternative treatments. They also provide legal information and general advice on mental health related law.

    SANE

  • Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA)

    Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA)Advisory

    An independent point of contact offering on-going, confidential emotional support and advocacy to those affected by sexual violence. Also provides information on options regarding reporting sexual violence and guides those who choose to report through the criminal justice process.
    The ISVA can be seen in Wellbeing Support Services, the Student Union Advice Centre, or the Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (CRASAC), depending upon preference. 30-minute advice slots can be booked in Wellbeing Support Services for Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons, and in the Student Union Advice Centre for Thursday mornings.
